Graduate Assistant Position Vacancy
The University of Louisiana Monroe is seeking applicants for a Water Ski Graduate Assistant position. The appointment will be for one academic year, with annual review and reappointment for the following academic year.
Our Graduate Assistant positions on the team are filled by students with leadership qualities that provide a fundamental part of the relationship between the team, the captains, the coach and the school.
We aim to employ 2 GA’s at one time, whose roles are to assist the coach in the running of the team. Usually we would employ 1 GA whose primary job is to be in the boat, coaching, driving and looking after the regular maintenance of our facility and 1 GA to assist with paperwork, arrangement of team activities and travel.
Graduate Assistant appointments include 20 hours of work per week under the direction of the student’s supervisor. University graduate assistantships feature a base compensation package that includes a full tuition waiver and out-of-state fee waiver. Students are also awarded a base stipend of at least $3,000 per regular term, $1000 per summer term and a minimum of $800 for intersessions.
The ULM Water Ski team also additionally compensates their Graduate Assistants with Water Ski Scholarship, at whichever level one qualifies for.
To be eligible for a graduate assistantship, applicants must be regularly admitted to a degree program. Applicants must have an undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or higher. Applicants with previous graduate coursework must have a graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Our Graduate Assistant positions are critical to the success of our program. Previous GA’s have included team members and transfer students who have won National Championships with us and a number of skiers who have won professional and world title events, achieving the highest success in water skiing.
All interested students who are completing their undergraduate degree in Fall 2020, or Spring 2021, or prospective graduate transfers should submit applications and three letters of recommendation to Michael Woodgate at Woodgate@ulm.edu.
